CARBON MANAGEMENT AND GREEN INVESTMENT
Climate change is recognized as one of the greatest environmental threats facing the world today. It threatens to have a major and adverse impact on the natural world and human society. The Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change, representing a vast majority of scientists globally, predicts that if no action were taken to limit greenhouse gas emissions, temperatures would rise in the range of 2-5 deg C by 2100. This would be at a faster rate than at any time since the end of the last ice age, 10,000 years ago.
Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the most important greenhouse gas (GHG) in terms of climate change; the principal source of anthropogenic (CO2) emission is fossil fuel combustion. These currently total around 6.5 billion tonnes of carbon per year (GtC/yr), and are rising at about 0.1 GtC/yr.
WHAT
WE OFFER The
intergovernmental agreement signed in Kyoto
in 1997, which sets legally binding limits on the emissions of greenhouse gases
from industrial countries, may be seen as the dawn of a new carbon economy
likely to influence the technological development in all sectors in the economy
for the next 50 years. Since
over 80% of energy used by the industry is derived from the combustion of
fossil fuels, stabilization of atmospheric CO2 concentrations
represents a major technological and economic challenge. While the attention of
governments is largely focused on energy intensive industries, such as power
generators, oil companies and cement manufacturers, innovation will be required
throughout the economy since it is other businesses and individuals that use
these fuels and materials. Responsible
companies are putting in place carbon management plans to help them control and
manage their emissions. This
is where we come into picture. Companies which envisage generating revenue by
reducing their emissions / waste, but are short of the required expertise and
guidance are our prime focus. These companies can be small scale industries who
are in their start up phase and willing to outline their environment policies
or companies who want their GHG emissions to be analyzed and Clean Development
Mechanism (CDM) project to be designed. For
such interested companies / individuals we will develop a CDM Project Design
Document (PDD) for the identified opportunities/venture / candidate projects.
